Effluent Treatment & Waste Water Treatment Plant

  • Fashion Knit Industries has invested 0.5 billion USD in sustainability and installed an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) not only to treat process wastewater in compliance with Sindh environmental quality standards (SEQS) but as an additional step a recycling plant is also being installed which will use the treated water from the ETP and recycle it, making it reusable for dyeing purpose
  • Almost 70% of the water will be recycled in order to give a safe environment and a greener and healthier world for our next generation

Effluent treatment will become a mandatory requirement of the EU within the foreseeable future.

Reverse Osmosis

  • With a growing emphasis on environmentally friendly products, and looking toward the ISO-14000 certification, the company has set up three huge RO Plants of Severn Trent USA
  • To control the quality of water that is used in the dyeing process.
  • The purified water not only is environmentally friendly but also provides a soft finish to the final product because of the removal of all the hardness from the water during the process

Eco-Friendly Processing Machines

  • Dyeing Process under ETP-FKI has installed low liquor ratio machines in order to control water and chemical usage resulting in less water, less chemical, and superior results
  • Heat Recovery boiler-Due to this installation heat is transferred into steam and is further used and has a core function of recycling in order to protect the environment

Sustainable Cotton

  • Organic Cotton (GOTS): It’s an agricultural and environmentally beneficial approach for producing organic cotton, with the major source of lower carbon due to lower fuel and energy consumption as it goes through a chemical-free production process, it also prevents water contamination
  • Organic Content Standard (OCS): This standard is used for blended yarn and the benefit is that organic claims made on final products can be fully backed up through third-party certification, transparency is increased, and consumer trust is improved
  • Cotton made in Africa (CMiA): Cotton made in Africa is an internationally recognized standard for sustainable cotton. CmiA has been committed to protecting the environment while improving working and living conditions for smallholder farmers and ginnery workers
  • Better Cotton Initiative (BCI): Better Cotton is the world’s leading sustainability initiative for cotton. Its mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive while protecting and restoring the environment

Sustainable Packaging

  • In order to protect the environment, Fashion Knit Industries has also worked on sustainable packaging styles by covering FSC paper and delivering many articles
  • To reduce fabric wastage, FKI presents pouch packing as a replacement for poly-bags, utilizing leftover fabric of the same qualities
  • FKI is committed to sustainability since plastic bags do not biodegrade, FKI now uses recycled poly bags, which reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills. As landfills play a significant role in the deterioration of our ecosystem, this helps to prevent land and water pollution. As recycling saves energy, it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change
